  • Botulinum toxin has become in a few years one of the safest and most demanded techniques in aesthetic medicine. It is a non-surgical treatment that smooths, reduce and prevents fine lines and wrinkles in the upper facial area.

Botulinum toxin type A is a protein produced by Clostridium Botulinum that once purified and in minimal doses is used to produce selective relaxation of the facial muscles, it acts by relaxing the communication between nerves and muscles.

This protein has been used since the late 1960s as a therapeutic agent in neurological disorders in specialties such as traumatology, ophthalmology and neurology. In 2002 the FDA approved its cosmetic use.
